To all Robert Jordan and Wheel of Time fans out there, Red Eagle Entertainment has announced a wide lineup of games based on the popular fantasy series, including an MMORPG.

A line of stand-alone Wheel of Time games is planned for release on all major videogame platforms, including consoles, personal computers, handheld systems and wireless devices. In addition, Red Eagle will launch and operate a massively multiplayer online role-playing game encompassing the themes, characters and world of the Wheel of Time novels.

Red Eagle Entertainment holds the movie and game rights to the IP. Their website doesn’t offer a lot of information, but you can find it here.

I’m a big fan of the series (I even play a WoT-bsed RP MUD!). We’ll see if Red Eagle can pull something off. They have the material, but it’s the execution that will determine whether or not it ends up a good game or not.

We’ll see how things go. :)

can they do it though that is the ? isnt it .It is a HUGE world and to do it right would mean redoing how they do mmorpg's right now

What they should probally do, if they are not already doing, is wait to do the mmorpg after the movie and console based games in order to have the funding it is going to require to make the game right.

I think also too many people are worried about them making it a video game first and aligning with the book second. Instead of them demanding it the other way around. I think in order for it to be good they should be on equal footing.

For some that will be blasphemous. But for example of course an aiel would not be able to kill a aes sedai normally in the book…..but this area could be greyed in order to make a better game, while also not distorting the book hardly at all. Come on in any game if it was real a mage could always beat a warrior type character: they can throw fire!!

What would be cool is two factions ovbiously. The Shadow and the Light. Includeing the classes of each; however would aiel be another faction or part of light? that is a grey area in the book so…
