Heroes of Telara Interview With Trion’s Russ Brown
The MMO Gamer: So how many of them are there? You made the example in the demo of just some seemingly random world boss out in a zone dropping a subclass.
Russ Brown: There’s going to be boatloads. We’re going to have a whole bunch. We’re going to do it for different styles of gameplay and just to have fun.
The MMO Gamer: That’s interesting. A lot of developers have trouble balancing even five classes, how are you going to go about balancing a “boatload” of subclasses?
Russ Brown: I’ll tell you this right now. I balance four classes. [Laughter] That’s my answer.
The MMO Gamer: Alright, last question as we seem to be running out of time. This also happens to be a personal favorite of mine:
Why do you make games, why do you wake up every morning, go to work and do what you do?
Russ Brown: It’s damn fun and the people in the industry are awesome. I mean they’re awesome. It’s just fun making games. I mean I work really long hours. Why? [Because] I’m making games! That’s awesome!
The MMO Gamer: Alright, fair enough. Thank you very much for joining us, we appreciate it. And we hope we’ll do it again some time.
Russ Brown: Thanks.
