In a strange mix of technologies, ‘The popular US band “All American Rejects”‘ are scheduled to play a concert in Anarchy Online this Sunday. Unlike other concerts in games such as Second Life, which made use of in game avatars for the band members, this one will make use of billboards in a special concert arena to show video of the band playing. What makes this more interesting is that these are the same billboards that show real world advertisements on them, using Microsoft’s Massive technology, and that players will have to toggle on the option to view them to be able to watch the band playing. Feel free to make of that what you will. Anyway, the concert is being sponsored by a ‘major U.S Telecom provider’ so you will need to be a North American resident to be able to take part in the event.

They are doing the same thing in The Matrix Online with the same band. They’ve done this before, so what AO is doing isn’t anything new or “world first”.

Got something to say?
