Finally someone is getting it right. After reading over Bioware’s latest Developer blog entry, Creating the Smuggler, I am happy to see someone is going to get swashbuckler-in-space class just the way we like it. Humor and class.

The dev blog goes on to talk about some of the ways that they are trying to put players in the shoes of our favorite smuggler types from the Star Wars mythos.  When pointing out the han Solo and Chewbacca allure, we even find out that they are planning to allow players to embark down this path of camaraderie by giving smuggles the choice of “partners” for the class.  Seriously, how kick ass is that?

If you have ever wanted to live out of the life of a pirate in space, the Smuggler class is looking to be something that might draw you into Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Heck, just looking at that concept art on the Smuggler outfit, with it’s cool corsair in the future look has got me itching even more to get my hands on this title!

The most successful Smugglers surround themselves with trusty companions who are handy with a blaster when deals go sour. Han Solo had Chewbacca as backup, and Smugglers in our game will have their pick of several memorable sidekicks.
