I've been playing this recently, and i think the review, aside from being now slightly outdated perhaps, was a bit unfair.

It seemed to look at the game how the writer wished it were, not as it was meant to be. Ozmodan got it right, this game is for fun, hence it is a game, not a lifestyle, not a hobby, not a fetish...

In the time i've spent, only one person aside from my real life friends on the game ever spoke to me. So, no, there isn't even any player interaction in town hardly. Unless you have some problem or question, which gets displayed on the noob channel.

Personally i liked the random items, the names were not actually so random, they may have been a year ago, but not really any more, i can almost read the name of an item and tell what it will buff before looking at the stats on the weapon.

What would you do with a weapon more than a couple levels above you anyway? It would sit in your inventory taking up space till you could use it. I've done that actually, and it's annoying having something like a suit of armor taking up 8 spaces for 4 levels or so before i can swap it out.

The game is designed for quick, random, humorous, mindless gameplay, without the irritation of whiney noobs, or snarkey noob haters getting in the way.

Also, as one who has a slow internet connection, the personalized dungeon arenas is a blessing, because i only have to load the scene, enemies, and any allies tagging along, which keeps my game going fast.

The patches keep coming, i've had to download updates 4 or more times since signing up the first time, so who knows, if you make some of these complaints into suggestions the company might make something of it eventually.

Meanwhile, weapons and armor seem more varied now as i'm not having the problem mentioned with above about the apparent cloning.

I've played Fiesta and Secret of the Solstice by Outspark, and they both allow players to custom build their characters, though there is no class mixing, which i love about Dungeon Runners. Total customization of the character means i can build it flat across or strong in one area, which means different combat strategies.

Different strategies become available in a party. I played a mage with a Ranger friend of mine, and the difference between that and me playing a fighter with the same Ranger friend was stark. The Ranger became the meat shield and my Mage became the artillerist.

The game has possibilities, and i do hope the company isn't done with it yet, as it could become a great deal more indepth than it is. That being said, if i'm playing for fun, to breeze through a few hours before bed, who wants it to be complicated?

Just for the record this game and WoW are on completely different ends of the spectrum. And both the games are highly questionable. Someone has to come along with something better soon or many MMORPG players will move on to other things and this whole fad will be over. WoW takes over peoples lives, and just so they can get fake gear to brag about to people they dont know. Dungeon Runners is the ultimate shallow version of that. Get fake stuff to brag about quickly with no depth or challenging gameplay. Till someone comes up with something in the middle all these games are just gonna feel like a big waste of time. The actual quality of the game has taken a backseat to appealing to the greedy masses. DR is an average game probably not worth downloading unless you just want a very shallow version of the other mmo's out there.

I guess I play a game for different reasons that 'hardcore' gamers; I play for fun! This game is fun! The mechanics are pretty easy to understand and I can play how I want, when I want and for as long as I want. After almost 2 years of playing world of warcraft and almost constant frustration this game is like a breath of fresh air. I think it's hilarious in the review that it was stated that people hardly ever group. That's because they don't want to, something 'hardcore' gamers never seem to understand. It's like they want recognition for doing something boring no one wants to do... in a game! It's also funny that so many knock the game because the free players don't get everything the paying players do. Just pay the measly $5.00 if you like the game. If you want to pay to grind in misery for endless months for sad bragging rights, play WoW, if you want to have fun play Dungeon Runners.

A very good review. The one thing I did not like about the game was the stats on the subscription only items were a lot better than on the items anyone could use. Nothing worse in a game like to to find something nice only not be able to use it. Unfortunately this occurs far too often.

Can I suggest you look to the official site for help on how to play a game instead of ourselves. A very quick look at The Dungeon Runners site revealed a very straightforward and easy to use quick start guide. You'll find the link multiple times on dungeonrunners.com where you registered for the game.
