Variety reports that Tomas DeSanto, the producer of Transformers, has secured film and TV rights to City of Heroes, the superhero MMOG published by NCSoft and developed by Cryptic Studios.

The movie revolves around a group of superheroes who live in Paragon City and must team up in order to fight an invasion of aliens known as the Rikti.

DeSanto plans on first making the movie and then possibly taking the franchise into TV.

Plan is to adapt the massively multiplayer online role-playing game into a live-action feature and then transition it to television in some form.

Tom DeSanto produced the Transformers film and was executive producer on the first two X-Men movies.
