TurnOut Ventures today announced an MMORPG based on the the Tom & Jerry TV franchise. The game is set to launch in early 2010 and is said to “… open the door to the world of the eponymous cat and mouse duo.”

Players will create and control their own cat and mouse characters in the wacky cartoon world where they will embark on quests, customize their cat and mouse avatars, engage in classic Tom and Jerryantics in both ‘Player versus Environment’ (PvE) and ‘Player versus Player’ (PvP) modes, and interact with other players using a variety of social tools.

The game is being developed by Hello Kitty! Online developers Typhoon Games using the Unity engine, the same engine used for Fusion Fall.

This isn't an IP that I imagined would be picked up. Don't get me wrong, I love Tom and Jerry. I just wasn't aware kids were still into them.

The concept might actually be pretty cool.

Got something to say?
